UK Special Risks Ltd is an independent insurance broker, who has designed and marketed the memorial headstone insurance policy in collaboration with Ecclesiastical Insurance plc

How long does the cover last?

5 years, renewable term

What is covered?

  1. Damage to your headstone by any cause not excluded under the policy up to the specified sum insured
  2. Your legal liability as owner of the headstone arising from accidental injury or accidental damage to property up to 2m maximum limit of indemnity

How is the price calculated?

Premiums are calculated at 5% of the value of the headstone (subject to a minimum premium of 50) plus insurance premium tax (IPT) at the prevailing rate. For example:

Headstone value £1,500.00
Premium £1,500 x 5% £75.00
IPT = £75 x 12% £9.00
Total Premium £84.00

What if I change my mind?

If, after receiving the full written policy documentation, you subsequently change your mind, you have 14 days to notify UK Special Risks Ltd that you do not wish to continue. No charge will be made and any premium already paid will be refunded to you in full.

If you decide to cancel your policy after the 14 day cooling-off period you may still cancel the policy by giving written notice to Ecclesiastical Insurance. So long as you have not made a claim, you may receive a refund for part of your premium, provided this exceeds 25, after a deduction for the time the policy has been in force.

When can I have the policy documents and insurance certificate?

If you arrange your insurance using our website, policy documents are produced as soon as you have paid the premium using a credit or debit card
If you arrange your insurance using the paper application form, your policy documents will be sent to you once your payment has been received by UK Special Risks Ltd
